Services for StaffWhat technology training is available? IT provides training both online and through workshops to help you get the most from EMU computing facilities. How do I get a new computer for my desk? Each year, EMU replaces one third of the desktop computers for faculty and staff. The program is administered by IT, but decisions about who receives the computers are made within the departments. You can check out the units for the current round at the PC Refresh section of the EMU Computer Store website. What software is available for my desktop? If you receive a new computer through the computer refresh program, your new system will come pre-loaded with a common set of software. Included are productivity applications, virus protection software and several others. For information about campus software licenses, visit the licensed software site. You may install personally-owned or departmental software on your EMU computer, but you must be able, on request, to produce proof that you have a license to run that software. For more information, see the EMU Acceptable Use Policy. My computer is acting up. Where can I get help? The IT Help Desk provides answers to your questions and asistance with computer problems. Visit their web page or give them a call at 487-2120. How do I connect to EMU from home? Dial-up access is provided through Merit's state-wide dial-up. For instruction, please visit the Help Desk web pages. Where can I learn about Banner? Banner is the administrative system at EMU.
