IT HELP DESK MINIMUM SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS

Each year the Computer Refresh Program committee determines a set of minimum support standards for computer systems on campus. Computers which fall below the minimum standards will not be supported.

Standards for the following year are usually announced at the beginning of a Computer Refresh round (typically July) to assist departments with selecting systems in their area which need to be replaced. Departments then have approximately 5-6 months to replace systems before the new minimum support standards take effect.

PC/Windows Minimum Standards
• Windows 2000 or XP
• 512 MB RAM
• 1.0 GHz processor
• 20 GB harddrive
• Microsoft Office 2003

Macintosh Minimum Standards
• Mac OS X 10.3
• 512 MB RAM
• 500 MHz G3 processor
• 20 GB harddrive
• Microsoft Office 2004

PC/Windows Minimum Standards
• Windows 2000 or XP
• 256 MB RAM
• 600 MHz processor
• 10 GB harddrive
• Microsoft Office XP

Macintosh Minimum Standards
• Mac OS X 10.2
• 256 MB RAM
• G3 processor w/ built-in USB support (i.e. no beige Macs)
• 6 GB harddrive
• Microsoft Office X
